Ships of Refelctions

Project for a sculpture class. Had to use natural materials, preferably that go back to earth.

"Funeral barges" with seagull feather sails made for some little rodent skulls I had. They were set to sail on the water where they disintegrated and sank.

Meant to invoke the reality that we are intimately tied to the earth whether we're aware of it or not as living beings. One day we will return to it because we are made of it. It is our mother, cliche as it may sound, and we need to treat her better.

While the other two sank, this one barge made it halfway across the water before I had to leave the site.
